Real Madrid celebrated winning the Primera Liga with a stylish 4-1 victory over great rivals Barcelona.

Raul, Arjen Robben, Gonzalo Higuain and Ruud van Nistelrooy (penalty) were all on target for the champions, who rubbed further salt in Barca's wounds after the Catalan side were comprehensively beaten in the race for the title.

Thierry Henry scored a late consolation for the visitors, who had Xavi sent off in injury time.

Villarreal secured runners-up spot and their highest ever La Liga finish after beating relegation-threatened Recreativo Huelva 2-0.

Nihat Kahveci's 18th goal of the season and a late Guille Franco strike proved enough to seal victory for the visitors in a tight contest.

They are now seven points clear of third-placed Barca with just two matches remaining.

Sevilla moved to the verge of the Champions League places after a Federico Fazio brace earned them a 3-0 victory over European rivals Racing Santander.

The Argentinian defender opened the scoring with a first-half header and added a second after the break.

Renato then sealed a convincing victory in stoppage time to move Sevilla level on points with fourth-placed Atletico Madrid, who play Espanyol on Thursday.

Aldo Duscher had earlier spurned the chance to give Racing the lead from the spot, while they ended the match with 10 men after Diaz Ayoze was sent off in the 81st minute.

Oscar Trejo came off the bench and struck a stoppage-time winner to boost Real Mallorca's UEFA Cup hopes with a 2-1 success and leave Osasuna with just two games to rescue themselves from relegation.

Trejo slotted home in the 93rd minute to earn Mallorca their fourth straight win.

Osasuna had looked like dragging themselves out of the drop zone after Javier Portillo cancelled out Daniel Guiza's first-half opener.

But Portillo went from hero to Villain when he was shown a straight red 10 minutes from time.

Valencia's relegation jitters were all but ended after David Silva's first-half strike ensured a crucial 1-0 victory against fellow strugglers Real Zaragoza.

Silva was later shown his marching orders after being booked twice in a minute.

Getafe came from two goals down to all but secure their Primera Liga status with a 4-2 win over Almeria.

Manu del Moral was the central figure with a quickfire double just past the hour mark, sandwiched between strikes from Juan Albin and Esteban Granero, the latter from the penalty spot.

Albert Crusat and Veljko Paunovic had given Almeria a two-goal cushion within 11 minutes of kick-off.

Real Betis were held to a 1-1 draw by 10-man Real Valladolid.

Mark Gonzalez had put Betis ahead from the penalty spot early in the second half, but Victor Fernandez denied the hosts' their first win in three games when he levelled the scores.

With nine minutes left Daniel Cifuentes saw red for Valladolid but they still hung on for a point.

Riki grabbed the only goal of the game as Deportivo La Coruna kept alive their hopes of a place in next season's Intertoto Cup remain with a 1-0 win at home to relegated Levante.

And Athletic Bilbao enjoyed a 2-1 success against Murcia, who will join Levante in the Segunda Division next season.

The home side took the lead through Ivan Alonso but goals from Fernando Llorente and Igor Gabilondo secured the spoils for Athletic.
